Skills Canada Cardboard Boat Competition
About the Competition
Teams of four will design and construct a cardboard boat to participate in both a speed and a weight challenge in a pool. Students will be given two sheets of 1/4" cardboard, duct tape and adhesive to construct the boat and two hours of building time. Teams are then judged on planning and design, quality of construction, visual appeal, teamwork and team spirit, knowledge of essential skills, safety and cleanliness as well as the boat’s speed and weight capacity. Each speed and weight challenge will be timed and recorded by judges. Two of the top teams from the TDJ3M1 classes then compete in the regional completion in London Ontario.
